Dr. Mike Daria is Superintendent of Tuscaloosa City Schools and a veteran educator who has served the district in nearly every year since beginning his career there in 1996. His experience includes teaching English, serving as an assistant principal and principal, and leading as executive director of personnel and assistant superintendent. Named Alabamaā€™s Superintendent of the Year in 2023, Dr. Daria is committed to ensuring every student has the opportunity to achieve personal, academic, and career success.
Under his leadership, the district has advanced a strategic plan focused on early literacy, universal prekindergarten, STEM, the arts, and rigorous academic opportunities, including Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, and dual enrollment. The district also works to ensure each graduate has a clear plan for college, career, or military service. Dr. Daria holds a doctorate in Educational Administration from the University of Alabama and earned National Superintendent Certification through AASA in 2020.
